The Steering Committee for Enterprise Innovation and Development, in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), held a press briefing in Hanoi on October 13, to announce a set of key indicators to evaluate the level of enterprise development in Vietnam and its localities in 2017 and in the period of 2010-2017.
The set of indicators has been built based on the results of the enterprise survey conducted by the General Statistics Office of Vietnam (GSO) last year and information sources updated from the business registration and tax databases.
Addressing the event, Deputy Prime Minister, Vuong Dinh Hue, stated that the announcement of the set of indicators is part of the activities towards realising the specific goal of reaching one million businesses in Vietnam by 2020.
The set of indicators helps the government, all-level Party committees and localities to receive updated information on the current business development situation and the enterprise development in each locality, while offering a picture of the “health situation” of enterprises via statistics on revenues, costs, profits and budget contributions, he said.
It also functions as a source of reference for the government and state agencies to design suitable policies to fulfill the goal of developing one million businesses in the country in the next two years, the deputy PM added.
On the basis of the set of indicators, he asked the ministries, sectors and localities to analyse, evaluate and review the business development situation in their localities, thus working out relevant measures to increase competitiveness and improve the business climate in a more substantial fashion.
Deputy PM Hue requested that enterprises provide sufficient data and information for the functional agencies under the guidance of the GSO, in order to serve the synthesis, compilation and promulgation of the set of indicators.
