Experts praise Vietnam’s efforts to improve business environment

Economic experts have spoken highly of the Government’s range of measures, set out in 2014’s Resolution 19, which are aimed at improving the business climate and enhancing the competitiveness of the Vietnamese economy.

Vietnam jumped up 14 positions on the World Bank’s ranking for 2017, its best performance since 2008.

Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment said at a conference on March 15, that after four years of implementing Resolution 19, Vietnam’s ranking for the ease of doing business has risen sharply.

He elaborated that Vietnam jumped up 14 positions on the World Bank’s ranking for 2017, its best performance since 2008.

Dr Nguyen Dinh Cung, director of the Central Institute of Economic Management (CIEM), said that many ministries have made significant efforts to ease the burden on enterprises.

The economic expert cited the Ministry of Industry and Trade as a typical example, having slashed more than half of the business rules under its jurisdiction, while other ministries have also followed suit in order to facilitate enterprises.

He added that Resolution 19 has encouraged local authorities to hold regular dialogues with the business community to address their concerns.
