European companies expressed their optimism regarding the business environment in Vietnam, according to the latest survey on the Business Climate Index (BCI) in the second quarter of 2018 conducted by the European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (EuroCham).
According to the survey, during the second quarter of this year, Vietnam’s BCI reached 84 points, a 6 six point jump from the first quarter. It is the most positive result over the past 18 months, and just two points below the all-time high of the third quarter of 2016.
77% of firms involved in the survey described their current operation as “excellent” or “good”. 64% of the participating businesses believe their business situation will be ‘good’, while 15% others answered ‘excellent’ when asked about their performance in the next quarter.
EuroCham members are also optimistic about Vietnam’s macroeconomic prospects in the next quarter, with 57% of respondents forecasting ‘stabilisation and improvement’ and 34% saying that it will remain unchanged, and only 10% predicting ‘deterioration’.
According to Co-Chairman of EuroCham, Nicolas Audier, these results once gain show the European companies and investors’ confidence in Vietnam’s business climate.
That the EuroCham members have now exceeded 1,000 reinforces this positive message and shows that Vietnam is open for business as an attractive trade and investment destination for European and international investors, he stressed.
